Early access — pending counsel review

These are our operative terms and we hold ourselves to them. They have not yet been reviewed by external counsel and MortRadar is in early development, so they may change; material changes are notified before they take effect and the version identifier on each document changes with them. Nothing here is legal advice.

Data attribution & source credits

Last updated July 2026

MortRadar is built on publicly available data published by U.S. government agencies and keyless public sources. This page credits each source and records the required non-endorsement notices. MortRadar is an independent product and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any government agency, government-sponsored enterprise, or data provider named here. Aggregations, benchmarks, entity matches, and modeled metrics are MortRadar’s own derived works and are not reviewed or approved by any source. Refresh cadence and the date each source was last loaded are shown on the system status & data-freshness board.

HMDA — Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (CFPB / FFIEC)

Includes data from the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) public data files published by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC), available at ffiec.cfpb.gov. HMDA data are reported by covered institutions and published by the government. MortRadar’s aggregations and derived metrics are its own and are not endorsed by the CFPB or the FFIEC.

The 2007–2017 loan-level records come from the CFPB’s historic HMDA data files, a closed series superseded by the modern publication from 2018. Because HMDA published no Legal Entity Identifier before 2018, the link from a company to its pre-2018 records is a crosswalk MortRadar builds from the 2018 HMDA panel’s arid_2017 field and from federal tax identifiers. That crosswalk is MortRadar’s own derived work and it reaches roughly three quarters of pre-2018 records.

The crosswalk links a filing identity, not an institution: arid_2017 carries only the agency code and respondent id a lender used in 2017, and federal tax id is the only route that can reach an earlier one. So the records it does not reach are of two kinds. Some belong to institutions that stopped filing before 2018 and have no Legal Entity Identifier to link to. Others belong to institutions that are still here but filed earlier years under a different respondent id or a different regulator — those earlier years are not attached to the modern company, even though later years are. MortRadar does not close that gap by matching institution names, because a name match on this population would attribute one lender’s loans to another. Unlinked records remain browsable under the respondent name they were reported with.

Ginnie Mae MBS disclosure (HUD)

Includes public MBS disclosure data — issuer, pool, and loan-level files — published by the Government National Mortgage Association (Ginnie Mae), available at ginniemae.gov. MortRadar’s issuer- and pool-level analyses are derived works produced by MortRadar and are not published, reviewed, or endorsed by Ginnie Mae or HUD. Use of this data is subject to Ginnie Mae’s disclosure terms of use.

FHFA — PUDB, House Price Index & MIRS transition index

Includes data from the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), available at fhfa.gov/data: the Public Use Database (PUDB) of GSE single-family acquisitions, the FHFA House Price Index (HPI), and the MIRS Transition Index. These are official public statistics; MortRadar’s transformations and joins are its own and are not endorsed by the FHFA.

GSE public disclosures (Fannie Mae / Freddie Mac)

Includes public disclosure context from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac used to frame acquisition and performance views. MortRadar is not affiliated with or endorsed by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac. License-restricted enterprise datasets are used only in internal tooling and are not presented in the public product.

HUD / FHA — portfolio snapshots, HECM & Neighborhood Watch

Includes the FHA single-family portfolio snapshot, the Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) snapshot, and HUD Neighborhood Watch early-default and servicing data, published by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) at hud.gov. MortRadar’s derived metrics are its own and are not endorsed by HUD or the FHA.

Bank & credit-union call reports (FFIEC / NCUA)

Includes depository mortgage metrics derived from FFIEC bank call reports (available at cdr.ffiec.gov) and National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) credit-union call reports. Also includes Schedule RC-P (1-4 family residential mortgage banking activities in domestic offices) from the FFIEC Central Data Repository bulk download at cdr.ffiec.gov/public/PWS/DownloadBulkData.aspx. Schedule RC-P is filed only by banks with at least $1 billion in total assets or more than $10 million of 1-4 family mortgage banking activity, so it covers a subset of insured banks and no nonbank lender; its representation-and-warranty reserve components (MDRM RCONL191 and RCONL192) are treated as confidential by the FFIEC and are not published for any filer. MortRadar’s aggregations are its own and are not endorsed by the FFIEC or the NCUA.

National Mortgage Database (FHFA / CFPB)

Includes aggregate mortgage-performance statistics from the National Mortgage Database (NMDB), a joint program of the FHFA and the CFPB, available at fhfa.gov/data/nmdb. Only published aggregate statistics are used; MortRadar’s presentation is not endorsed by the FHFA or the CFPB.

NY Fed Household Debt & Credit (FRBNY Consumer Credit Panel)

Includes mortgage balance and delinquency statistics from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s Household Debt and Credit Report, based on the FRBNY/Equifax Consumer Credit Panel, available at newyorkfed.org. MortRadar is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York or Equifax.

U.S. Census Bureau — residential building permits

Includes data from the U.S. Census Bureau Building Permits Survey, available at census.gov. Census Bureau data are in the public domain; MortRadar’s derived metrics are its own and are not endorsed by the U.S. Census Bureau.

CFPB Consumer Complaint Database

Includes data from the CFPB Consumer Complaint Database, available at consumerfinance.gov. Complaints are published as received and are not verified by the CFPB; the CFPB does not endorse MortRadar or its analyses.

CFPB enforcement actions

Includes federal enforcement actions — consent orders, civil penalties and settlements — published by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau at consumerfinance.gov/enforcement. These are FEDERAL actions and are distinct from the state mortgage-regulator orders credited below; a company with no row in one file may still appear in the other. Actions are reproduced as published, and the CFPB does not endorse MortRadar or its analyses.

CRA — Community Reinvestment Act disclosure (FFIEC)

Includes the Community Reinvestment Act small-business and small-farm disclosure and aggregate flat files published by the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council at ffiec.gov/cra. These report small-business and small-farm lending, not mortgages: they are a different reporting programme from HMDA under the same regulator, and the two are never summed. CRA data are a work of the U.S. Government and are in the public domain; MortRadar’s peer and market-share derivations are its own and are not endorsed by the FFIEC.

Interest-rate series — Federal Reserve (FRED)

Includes interest-rate and benchmark series retrieved from FRED, the economic database of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, available at fred.stlouisfed.org. Series are subject to their originating providers’ terms; MortRadar is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Federal Reserve.

Public equities — Yahoo Finance & SEC EDGAR

Stock quotes and daily close-price history are retrieved from keyless public Yahoo Finance endpoints; share counts and issuer facts are drawn from SEC EDGAR filings, available at sec.gov/edgar. SEC EDGAR content is public; Yahoo Finance data are used subject to their terms. Market data may be delayed and are provided for informational purposes only — not investment advice.

Corporate ownership graph — GLEIF Level-2 (LEI relationship records)

Corporate parent, subsidiary and branch relationships are derived from the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) Level-2 relationship records, published in the monthly golden-copy files at gleif.org. GLEIF data are made available under a Creative Commons CC0 public-domain dedication. MortRadar is not affiliated with or endorsed by GLEIF, and the corporate relationships shown are as reported to GLEIF by the registering entities and their managing LOUs — not verified by MortRadar.

U.S. Department of Labor / EBSA — Form 5500 plan-sponsor filings

Includes Form 5500 and Form 5500-SF annual return/report filings made by retirement-plan sponsors and published by the U.S. Department of Labor, Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) through the EFAST2 public disclosure program, available at dol.gov. These filings are works of the U.S. Government and are in the public domain. The sponsor-to-lender match (by employer identification number) and the participant-count headcount panel built from it are MortRadar’s own derived works — a staffing proxy, not an employee census — and are not endorsed by the U.S. Department of Labor or EBSA.

NMLS Mortgage Industry Report (State Regulatory Registry / CSBS)

Includes published aggregate figures from the NMLS Mortgage Industry Report — quarterly counts of licensed mortgage companies, branches and mortgage loan originators by state agency, and the national state-licensed / federally-registered composition — published by the State Regulatory Registry LLC and the Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS) on behalf of the state mortgage regulators, available at nationwidelicensingsystem.org. The report is published free of charge but is not a work of the U.S. Government, so it is used on an attribution basis: only published aggregate figures are reproduced, credited to the NMLS Mortgage Industry Report, and no company-level, branch-level or individual licensee record is republished here. MortRadar is not affiliated with or endorsed by NMLS, the State Regulatory Registry LLC, the CSBS, or any state regulatory agency.

U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics — Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages

Includes establishment, employment and wage data for NAICS 5222 (non-depository credit intermediation) and 5223 (activities related to credit intermediation) from the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages published by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics at bls.gov/cew. QCEW is a work of the U.S. Government and is in the public domain. Only the state and metropolitan-area extracts are loaded; the county extract is a separate file and is not used, so no county figure is derived from it. MortRadar is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

State WARN Act layoff notices (state labor departments)

Includes employer layoff notices filed under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act and published by individual state labor departments; the U.S. Department of Labor indexes those state lists at dol.gov but publishes no combined national file. Each state’s notices are that state’s own public record. Coverage is uneven by construction: states publish on different schedules, in different formats, and several retain only a rolling window, so an absence of notices for a state may be a publication practice rather than an absence of layoffs. Matches to named mortgage lenders are MortRadar’s own and unmatched employers are retained as published. MortRadar is not affiliated with or endorsed by the U.S. Department of Labor or any state labor department.

State mortgage-regulator enforcement actions (state financial regulators)

Includes enforcement actions — consent orders, licence revocations and civil penalties — published by individual state banking and financial-institution regulators; the Conference of State Bank Supervisors maintains a directory of those agencies at csbs.org. There is no national file: each regulator publishes its own list and several retain only recent years, so a state with no rows must never be read as a state with no enforcement. Actions are reproduced as published and are attributed to the issuing regulator. MortRadar is not affiliated with or endorsed by the CSBS or any state regulator.

Federal Emergency Management Agency — disaster declarations and National Risk Index

Includes Presidential major-disaster, emergency and fire-management declarations with their designated areas, and the National Risk Index, published by the Federal Emergency Management Agency through OpenFEMA at fema.gov. Both are works of the U.S. Government and are in the public domain. A declaration carries both state-level and county-designation records; MortRadar distinguishes the two rather than counting county designations as separate declarations. MortRadar is not affiliated with or endorsed by FEMA.

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs — Loan Guaranty volume

Includes VA Loan Guaranty purchase, interest-rate-reduction refinance (IRRRL) and cash-out loan counts and guaranty amounts by geography, published by the Department of Veterans Affairs Loan Guaranty Service at benefits.va.gov. A work of the U.S. Government, in the public domain. VA reports on a fiscal year running October to September; VA years are never placed on one axis with HMDA calendar years. MortRadar is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Lender web, app-store and directory presence (public listings and trade press)

Includes counts and ratings derived from public lender websites, the Apple App Store and Google Play public listings, publicly published loan-officer directories, and workplace lists published by National Mortgage News at nationalmortgagenews.com. These are not government works; they are collected from public pages under each publisher’s terms, and only derived counts and ratings are shown — no listing text, page content or directory record is republished. These are reputation signals, not measures of loan quality, and the surfaces that use them say so. MortRadar is not affiliated with or endorsed by Apple, Google, National Mortgage News, or any lender named.
